Incontinence and travelling
If you’re one of the millions of people affected by incontinence, you may have concerns about travelling. Will I be able to manage my condition while away from home? What if I have an accident? These are valid concerns, but with a little planning, you can minimise the risk and enjoy your trip
Here are a few tips to help you plan ahead:
- Pack plenty of supplies: This includes enough incontinence products for the duration of your trip, as well as any prescription medications you may need. It’s also a good idea to pack several day’s worth of supplies in your carry-on luggage in case your checked baggage is delayed.
- Choose your accommodation wisely: If possible, pick a hotel that’s close to public restrooms. This will make it easier to make quick trips if needed. You may also want to consider a hotel with on-site laundry facilities so you can wash and dry your clothes if necessary.
- Plan your days carefully: If you know you’ll be out and about all day, pack enough supplies to last, as well as a change of clothes in case of accidents. It may also be helpful to map out the locations of public restrooms ahead of time so you know where to find them when you need them.
- Don’t let your condition stop you from enjoying yourself: With a little planning, incontinence doesn’t have to put a damper on your travel plans. So go ahead and book that trip—you deserve it!
Travelling with incontinence doesn’t have to be daunting—with a little preparation, you can enjoy your time away from home worry-free. So pack your bags and hit the road—your adventure awaits!
