A medical doctor and expert in urology has put forward the opinion that different treatments for incontinence can work depending on the person suffering. E William Johnson, a core physician for Atlantic Urology Associates, outlined different possible treatments, including incontinence pads and medication, at the website Sea Coast Online.
The doctor also said that the first thing that people worrying about incontinence should do is talk to their GP.
"While one medication may not work for every woman, there are a number of treatment options and lifestyle changes women can make to help decrease these episodes of incontinence," he said. "Initially, you should speak with your primary care provider about your concerns related to incontinence. If appropriate, you will be referred to a urologist."
Recent research by Australia's Curtin University has found that green tea may be beneficial to women suffering from incontinence, as people drinking four or more cups of the liquid per day saw symptoms decrease.
