Women in Bradford who are affected by urinary incontinence are being urged to take part in a new pilot scheme aimed at making their lives easier.
Research suggests that many people with female incontinence do not visit their GP because they are too embarrassed to discuss their condition.
To address this, Bradford Royal Infirmary is trialling a year-long physiotherapy self-referral service, whereby women can arrange to see a physiotherapist instead of first going through their GP.
Senior physiotherapist Dianne Naylor revealed: "Women with this condition have a lot to gain by coming forward for help.
"Pelvic floor training does work and is being offered as a first-line management for women with stress, urge or mixed urinary incontinence and mild vaginal prolapse."
