Brits are too embarrassed about conditions such as incontinence to get the proper treatments, it has been warned.
According to research by the Co-operative Pharmacy, incontinence, erectile dysfunction, flatulence, worms and sexual diseases are among the conditions that people most want to hide.

But the research suggests that millions are so embarrassed by these conditions they are not seeking treatment.
Mandeep Mudhar, head of business development at The Co-operative Pharmacy, said: “Our research has shown that coy behaviour is putting people’s long-term health at risk and causing unnecessary suffering. "Healthcare professionals are trained to deal with people’s concerns in a sensitive way, but despite this, people are too self-conscious to ask for help with certain issues, many ones that can be treated easily. "

The news comes after comments by one expert, who claimed that changing diet and undertaking more exercise can reduce the effects of incontinence. Dr Tomas Griebling, vice chair of urology at University of Kansas, said an unhealthy lifestyle can cause an overactive bladder.
